Setting a Good Example – How to improve your SbE, BDD and ATDD artefacts

To get the most out of Behaviour Driven Development (BDD), Specification by Example (SBE) or Acceptance Test-Driven Development (ATDD), you need much more than a tool. You need high value specifications. How do we get the most out of our specification and test writing effort? How do we write testable scenarios that business people will actually care about? These and other questions will be addressed in this talk in which we take a practical approach using real-world examples.

If you work with Cucumber, Concordion, Fitnesse or similar tools to support BDD and ATDD, you will learn how to avoid common mistakes that teams make when writing test scenarios. You will also learn to recognise the characteristics that take good scenario descriptions beyond the role of acceptance tests and into living documentation for long-term value.

Specification by Example

Specification By Example is the current best practice in Agile analysis specification and testing and builds on Behavior Driven Development. The course material is based on Gojko Adzic’s best-selling books “Specification by Example” and “Bridging the Communication Gap”. This is the first time SBE expert workshops have been offered in Australia.

Specification by Example (SBE) is the corner-stone of any successful software quality strategy in agile and lean processes. In this workshop we will explore the process patterns that successful teams use to implement SBE, and give you practical experience of how to apply the technique to bridge the communication gap between stakeholders and implementation teams. You will be learning the tips and tricks that successful teams use to build quality into software from the start, and to design, develop and deliver systems fit for business purpose.
